The Metalon ICI Series of Copper Oxide Reduction Inks

The ICI inks were developed to provide very low cost inks for high-volume applications such as RFID and smart packaging.  These inks in commercial volumes are , at order sizes of 500kg or larger$75/kg.  For smaller quantities, pricing is as low as $100.

The inks are based on the use of copper oxide nanoparticles in aqueous dispersion.  After printing, the inks are converted to copper by using the energy from a PulseForge tool to drive and modulate a reduction reaction in-situ.  The result is a mesoporous copper structure with excellent conductivity at a fraction of the cost of a comparable silver-based deposition.  Copper inks require overcoat after curing to prevent long-term re-oxidation of the copper metal.

While performance is best on microporous or porous substrates, some types of non-porous substrates may also be used.  Please contact us directly for more information.
